CURRENT CLUB INFORMATION THIS MONDAY : 8th April ---- District Speech Contest first round: ( at Prince Albert ) Subject : "Outstanding NZ Women" This will be a partners/ wives invited meeting, bring a friend to hear our student prepared speeches, we need to fill the room. Some may bring a potential new member to experience this young person event.
Guests are welcome but please advise Barry White of your numbers for catering.
Meal price reduced to $15 per head.
Four of our members are away down south on the rail trail today so try and bring a partner or guest so we have an audience for these College students with their prepared speeches !
Note the District Speech Contest 2013 details – we are acting as our co-ordinators for this year’s event. The programme is outlined as ( see notice above ) -- First Round - Topic of our Club’s choice " Outstanding NZ Women " on 8th April Second Round at Area Level-
Topic " If I had My Own Planet" - to complete by 27th May Final Round at District Level – To be held 6pm Monday 17
th June at Burnside Bowling Club. 330 Avonhead Rd, Christchurch.
+ April 15th ... BBQ at Founders Park, Mike Williams speaker , Station manager at 104.8 Fresh FM Radio. Jim is bringing his barbeque to cook.
Bring your own plates, glasses, knives & forks ( and DRINKS )

nd… Speaker is Ian Goldschmidt from Fonterra. He will speak on the Subject : " Fonterra from Farm to International Markets"
Noted this Week:
We know a guy who is addicted to brake fluid - but he reckons he can stop at any time.
And recently a cartoonist was found dead in his home, details are rather sketchy.
+ Conference will be at Methven 3-5 May 2013 at the Methven Resort – registrn cost with partner will be $370. Registration Form is now available for attendees to book now. Last chance to put your name up, Admin. In District needs to know who is coming.
NOTICE for Bulletin Re ROTAHOMES : Further to the recent members talk by Barry B regarding Rotahomes in Fiji.
Notice has been received that members from District are scheduled
to spend the first two weeks of September working on this aid project.
Costs including travel, food, accommodation, insurance etc are likely to
be approximately $1500.00.
At this stage five District Rotarians have registered an interest, If you
are interested please contact Barry.

Inspector Brian McGurk Speaking on his time in Afghanistan / or title and enjoy bidding in our fund-raising Auction
Wednesday 17 April 2013.
Brian is a Police Inspector with 35years service in the New Zealand Police, an accomplished speaker, qualified lawyer, and lives in Nelson.
Brian recently spent eight months in central Afghanistan. He was Head of the City Police and Justice Project, attached to the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan working alongside the New Zealand Provincial Reconstruction Team.
His focus was to develop capability and capacity in the Afghan National Police, develop and strengthen laws and advance gender and human rights. Brian is absolutely passionate about New Zealand's contribution to improving lives of the ordinary people who are suffering in this troubled country.
Sharing his experiences of working in Bamiyan province, you’ll hear some interesting examples of issues his team worked on. As well as enjoying the food, fellowship, and this thought provoking speaker, you’ll have the opportunity to bid on a wide variety of items during the auction. Your contribution will help our Rotary Foundation continue its very worthwhile work world-wide.
