Diabetes Awareness Week

Matt Roberts and David Sturrock came and shared with us about on Diabetes Awareness Week and the scourge that seems to have crept into our society. An astounding 280000 people in NZ have type 2 diabetes. This is the highest rate in the world.
In Nelson there are 52 families with type 1 diabetes. Type 1 accounts for just 10% of suffers but they have it hard with many of them being young children. This is scary for the kids and worrying for their parents. Can you imagine a pre school child reading their own blood sugar meter and putting up with constant injections?
