Rotary Marshalls Needed

Hi Fellow Rotary Members,

Marshals are needed for several of our road races for The Konica Minolta Cycle Festival. Your prompt reply would be much appreciated.

It would be nice to get as many marshals from our Club that we can manage to give Club funds a boost and to enable more Wheeler’s riders to participate instead of marshalling.

Friday night 8th October, Avanti Plus City of Nelson Cathedral Criterium, 5.30 until 9.00ish. I hoped our Club could supply the bulk of the marshals with fill in help from Wheelers members. Trafalgar Square, Selwyn Place, Nile Street etc. This should be the most fun to do. 16 Marshals required some of you will be allowed to leave early if people on the night take over your position. Some Wheelers members may be able to do this after they have raced.

Saturday 9th Scott Bicycles Spooners/Wai-iti/88 Valley road race 1.30pm to 3.30pm aprox we could do with a couple of Rotary drivers to follow bunches I can give you a briefing if you are interested and we will supply vehicles. We need about 6 marshals (+ 4 drivers)

Tuesday night 12th October The Avanti Cable Bay Twilight Road Race. 5.30pm to 7.30ish, some marshals can leave as soon as bunches are passed in the Glen area. We need marshals at the Glen 2/3, Glen SH6 corner 1, Cable bay corner 1, Cable Bay Delaware corner, Cable Bay turn, Delaware Bay turn, Hira School U turn, 2 marshals and Founders park finish. 11 marshals and 2 drivers.

On Saturday 16th October I could do with a couple of drivers to drive support vehicles for The More FM Bike and Boat Ride from Nelson to Kaiteriteri. This is a layed back bunch ride to catch Wilson’s Ferry back to Nelson after the ride. 2 driver’s vehicles supplied. This is an all day affair and if you want a day out this would be good.
The support vehicles will pick up slow riders, some riders will get back on after the tops of hills etc. I will be riding my tandem and leading this group. It starts at 10.00am Lunch at Tapawera BBQ at Kaiteri, boat leaves 3.30ish for home. Vehicles will be needed to transport bikes back to Nelson after.

We also have several Coffee rides planned. Some of our members may like to participate in these too.

Rotary will get paid for providing marshals and drivers. Please indicate your availability to Mike Watson by email or phone. Tasman Wheelers will need to pick up any short fall in Marshals.

Karl Van Hoppe is co-ordinating Marshals for Wheelers.
